Here is proof
we save money!
This is an actual store receipt using our system of food shopping. Keep
in mind, other weeks we buy different items. "GROCERY STORE SAVINGS",
explains how and why we choose certain items each week.
Before we adopted
our new grocery buying techniques we frequently overspent
on groceries, ate poorly, and never seemed to have the
right ingredients for desired meals. Now we can eat just
about anything we want. Here is one of our recent receipts.
The total costs
was $15.70, counting taxes.
For this week
we saved 51% on food!
Notice the bought
items was mainly brand names. We saved $9.54 on store sales,
and $5.15 on coupons for a total of $14.69.
Sales tax was
39 cents.
Before adopting
our new food savings system we would have spent $30.00,
assuming the food would cost the same as before and not
counting taxes. In some states tax is not paid on food.
We saved 51%!
You will notice
that most of the savings was on "buy one get one" sales.
We added a doubled coupon to most of those sales. We also
had a trial coupon for a free item. And a $1.00 coupon
for one sale. (Our store does not double coupons over 50
cents. If yours does you save even more.)
Some
weeks we buy only items like milk, bread, and produce.
Some weeks
we spend a little more. But our monthly spending is at
least 30% less than we did three years
ago, often 40-50% less. That's not taking into account
the increased cost of food
either.
How well you do will depend on planning, your family's
needs, and how well you work the plan. We are convinced
almost anyone can save. It boils down to good planning
and application.
